Four-star wide receiver Jaden Upshaw, the younger cousin of current Hurricanes receiver Daylyn Upshaw, committed to Texas A&M on Wednesday over Miami, Alabama and Florida.
Mike Elko's staff now has another win in what is already the No. 1 2027 recruiting class in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Upshaw is listed as the No. 61 overall prospect, the No. 12 wide receiver in the 2027 class and the No. 5 player in Georgia in the Rivals Industry Ranking. 247Sports ranks Upshaw at No. 72 overall and No. 12 among wide receivers nationally.

4-star WR Jaden Upshaw commits to Texas A&M
Miami had a built-in angle because Daylyn Upshaw is already on the Hurricanes' roster, and Jaden had openly discussed how much contact the two kept during his recruitment. Jaden and Daylyn talk almost every day and the older cousin had been telling him a lot about Miami. That family connection was clearly Miami's biggest advantage entering decision week.
Daylyn Upshaw is still early in his own career at Miami. He appeared in six games as a true freshman in 2025 and caught seven passes for 105 yards.
Upshaw made a spring visit to Coral Gables for the April 4 Spring Ball Splash, and Miami had recently gotten him back on campus as the Hurricanes tried to make one final impression before his announcement.
In the end, Texas A&M's push was stronger as Upshaw chose the Aggies after multiple visits to College Station. For Upshaw, that was the program that felt like home.
With Upshaw on board, the Aggies now have six top-100 overall commits in the 2027 cycle and 12 total commits, including 11 blue-chippers.
Upshaw was productive for Lee County last season, putting up 47 catches for 902 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025, good for 19.2 yards per catch and 90.2 receiving yards per game.
