CJ Cypher, an elite 2029 quarterback from Carrollton High School in Georgia, has cut his recruitment to 10 schools, and Miami made the list. Cypher is considering Ohio State, Miami, Georgia, Alabama, Indiana, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, Auburn and Kentucky.
Cypher measures in at 6-foot-3 and 196 pounds. In his first year, Cypher had 144 completions on 201 attempts for 2,178 yards, 26 touchdown passes and three interceptions.

QB CJ Cypher trims list to 10 schools with Miami still in the mix
Miami has already built a relationship with Cypher. The rising sophomore has visited Miami twice and the Hurricanes have made a strong impression.
QB Israel Abrams is committed in the 2027 class, QB Knox Annis is committed in 2028, and Cypher would be the next addition to Miami's long-term quarterback plan.
2029 is far into the future, so Cypher's recruitment is actually more about the direction of Miami's program under Mario Cristobal, rather than the prospect himself.
Miami has made it a goal to get one QB signed in every class, but the level at which the Hurricanes are recruiting the position indicates a potential change in how they fill the starting duties going forward.
Over the last three seasons Miami has opted for transfer portal talent rather than an in-house signal caller. With Cam Ward and Carson Beck, that paid off, and Darian Mensah should be the same story over the next 1-2 years. But Mensah's road to Coral Gables was hectic, with a battle between lawyers and a time period that put Miami in an 'all or nothing' spot. That move, in addition to the two previous years, also could have changed how high school QBs view Miami if the staff didn't take the proactive approach it appears to be on now.
It is now becoming clear that the Hurricanes want to invest heavily in the quarterback position through the high school ranks to keep their options open. Whether it is 2029, or 2027 and 2028, Miami is attempting to have a viable internal candidate for the starting job moving forward.
