Miami concludes the regular season needing to win two out of three games at Florida State to earn a double bye in the ACC Tournament next week. If Miami sweeps Florida State and Boston College loses all three games at Georgia Tech this weekend, the Hurricanes can finish as high as third in the ACC.
Miami enters the weekend with 35 wins and 15 losses overall and 15 victories and 12 defeats in the ACC. There is a logjam behind Miami in the ACC standings. Wake Forest is 14-13 in the ACC. Virginia, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech are 13-14 in the conference and Stanford is 12-15.
Miami won two out of three games against Stanford, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest this season. North Carolina State beat Miami two out of three games earlier this month. Miami and Virginia did not play each other during the 2026 season.
The top four seeds in the ACC Tournament receive double byes, seeds five through eight earn first-round byes and the teams who finish ninth through 16 in the conference standings will play in the first round and have to win five consecutive games for the postseason league title.

Injury update
Miami will continue to be without starting third baseman Daniel Cuvet in the updated ACC Student-Athlete Availability Report. First baseman Myles Bailey, pitcher John Abraham and infielder Jace Estes are out for Florida State and Seminoles outfielder Chase Williams is probable.
Pitching matchups
Florida State ace left-hander Wes Mendes (9-3, 2.42 ERA) will start game one against Miami southpaw Rob Evans (9-3, 3.41 ERA). Left-hander Trey Beard (5-1, 5.12 ERA) will start game two for FSU against Miami right-hander Lazaro Collera (3-2, 4.68 ERA). Right-handers Bryson Moore (6-1, 4.09 ERA) for FSU and AJ Ciscar (4-3, 4.35 ERA) for Miami will start game three.
Miami outfielder Derek Williams is in the top 10 in five offensive categories in the ACC. Florida State struggles offensively, with none of the Seminoles in the top 10 in any major offensive category in the ACC. The Seminoles are in the bottom third in the ACC in most offensive categories/
The series should come down to Miami's offense versus Florida State's pitching. Miami is third in the ACC in runs scored and the Seminoles are second in the conference in earned run average. Miami needs to get ahead early and force Florida State to play from behind.
Miami will play at Florida State with first pitch on Thursday and Friday at 6 PM Eastern Daylight Time and the final game of the series at 2 PM on Saturday. All three Miami at Florida State games this weekend will be televised by ACC Network Extra.
