Miami still remains among the top teams in the AP Poll, but the voters moved Oregon to No. 2 after the Ducks' double-OT win at Penn State, nudging Miami to No. 3 after their bye week. Ole Miss rocketed up to No. 4 and Oklahoma rounded out the top five. Florida State tumbled to No. 18 after losing at Virginia, who came in at No. 24. With all that movement, Ohio State still sits at No. 1.

Others receiving votes include South Florida with 53, Utah with 52, Mississippi State with 46, Memphis with 38, Louisville with 36, USC with 22, Maryland with 7, TCU with 6, and UNLV with 3.
Miami came in at No. 3 with four first-place votes. Voters respected Miami's resume enough to keep the Hurricanes in the top three but Oregon's road win at PSU moved them up. The Ducks also recieved 16 first-place votes which is something to watch in the coming weeks.
The ACC has four ranked teams: Miami (3), Georgia Tech (17), Florida State (18) and Virginia (24). Notably, Clemson and SMU are not in the rankings after starting the season in dissapointing fashion. The big mover was Virginia, after they beat FSU 46–38 in 2OT to snap a six-year AP Poll drought. Georgia Tech stayed perfect with an OT win at Wake Forest, but they still fell one spot.
FSU's slide puts a different spin on the stakes for Oct. 4. The Seminoles fell 10 spots after the loss and now it is not going to be a battle of top-10 teams, but instead it will be a test of mental strength. Miami at No. 3 vs. FSU at No. 18 will still draw prime attention, even though the game won't have College GameDay in town.
Some SEC chaos also helped Miami hold serve while the Hurricanes were off. Georgia lost to Alabama and plunged to No. 12, while LSU fell to No. 13 after losing to Ole Miss. Neither Ole Miss or Alabama were a threat to jump Miami but they could be in future weeks if they get more ranked wins.
