For the next couple of weeks, Marcel Reed is the No. 1 target for the Miami Hurricanes defense. The Aggies' offense runs through Reed and when the sophomore is on his game, he can be a problem.
But what if Reed's relationship with Texas A&M changes down the road? We know that Miami seems to be among the top destinations for quarterbacks in the transfer portal and as long as there's a top quarterback in the portal, the Hurricanes will be mentioned as a potential fit.
Reed was on ''Outta Pocket with RG3' and he was asked about what it would take to be a Hurricane. And when Robert Griffin III's wife, Grete, suggested $4 million, Reed smartly deferred to the adults in his life.
Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed on would he transfer if Miami offered him $4 Million,

“I’d have to talk to my parents. 🤣…I got offers after my freshman year. I thought this was the best place to be. I don’t think there’s any reason I need to leave Texas A&M….We have the best stadium… pic.twitter.com/RUAoaRUDdL
There's not much to see here
This seemed to be more light joking conversation than anything serious. Although with the way college football is these days, things can go from zero to 100 very quickly. There's no reason to think Reed will be entertaining the transfer portal and no reason to believe that Texas A&M wouldn't aggressively work to keep Reed if they felt like that was the case.
"I know, at least from the outside looking in, what A&M has done for you has been great. I think if any team came in and offered you more money, I think they'd match it," Griffin said.
Griffin went on to say that he felt like Texas A&M was the best place for Reed and the QB agreed with that assessment.
"There's no reason for me to leave. I think I have a great OC. I have a great coach. I have great players around me," Reed added.
Will Miami be in the market for a transfer QB?
It's expected that the Hurricanes staff will investigate the transfer quarterback market and could be the biggest players out there. They could also decide that they like where Emory Williams is at this stage of his career and stay in-house. But Miami is often mentioned when discussing potential landing spots for quarterbacks that could or are expected to enter the portal, like Arizona State's Sam Leavitt or South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers.
And while Reed isn't expected to be on that list of quarterbacks looking for a new home, after nextSaturday's game, he might have a change of heart.
