Miami will know soon whether it can keep one of South Florida's top defensive backs home. Four-star St. Thomas Aquinas safety Zayden Gamble will announce his commitment Saturday at 6:30 p.m., choosing between Miami, Florida, Notre Dame and Ohio State. The decision will be announced live on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel.

Elite Florida safety Zayden Gamble puts Miami in final four ahead of Saturday decision

Gamble is coming off a strong junior season at St. Thomas Aquinas, finishing with 65 tackles, three tackles for loss, three interceptions, five pass breakups and one forced fumble. As a sophomore, he added 21 tackles and four interceptions.

247Sports ranks Gamble as the No. 16 safety in the country and the No. 19 prospect in Florida for the 2027 cycle. He also participated in the Under Armour All-America Game.

On3 has him as the No. 22 safety in the country, the No. 24 prospect in Florida and the No. 236 overall player nationally for the 2027 class.

ESPN ranks Gamble as the No. 14 safety, the No. 21 player in Florida, the No. 83 player in the region and the No. 185 overall prospect in the ESPN 300 for the 2027 class.

Gamble had summer official visits lined up with all four finalists, but he has decided to shut things down before taking them.

Miami got Gamble on campus for 305 Day on March 5. Two days later, he made it to Florida on March 7. Ohio State also stayed involved after hosting Gamble on March 11. Notre Dame ended up gaining some ground with Gamble's March 21 visit to South Bend. That trip was his first time on campus there.

The Hurricanes currently have eight commits in the 2027 class, and only one defensive back commit: safety Jaylyn Jones of McArthur High in Florida.
