Miami passing game gets major national respect in new On3 QB and WR rankings

On3's J.D. PicKell ranked the top 10 quarterback and receiver duos in college football entering the 2026 season. Miami was the only team with two pairings on the list, with Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney at No. 2 and Mensah and Cooper Barkate at No. 8.

Ohio State's Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith were the only duo ranked ahead of Mensah and Toney.

That is a major statement about the ceiling of Miami's offense before Mensah has even taken a snap in a Hurricanes uniform.

On3 ranking gives Miami two of college football's top QB and WR duos

Toney is one of the best returning wide receivers in the country. In 2025 he finished with a team-high 1,622 all-purpose yards.

The only "question" is chemistry between Mensah and Toney, but that seems like a forgone conclusion at this point after spring ball.

Barkate followed Mensah from Duke to Coral Gables after becoming his top target last season. They don't have any sort of chemistry question. Barkate will be Mensah's security blanket when Toney gets doubled. And his presence will also allow Toney to face more favorable coverages from time to time.

Miami also added South Carolina transfer Vandrevius Jacobs, and he will be another option in an offense that expects to be one of the best in college football.
