Miami plays Boston College in ACC Tournament quarterfinals after beating Stanford

Miami plays Boston College in the second round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday after beating Stanford in the second round on Wednesday.

After an 11-2 victory over Stanford in the second round of the ACC Tournament in Charlotte on Wednesday, Miami will play Boston College in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Boston College had a double-bye in the ACC Tournament.

Boston College won two out of three games at Miami in March. Winning the series against Miami essentially gave Boston College the double-bye over the Hurricanes. Boston College finished with 17 wins and 13 losses in the ACC in 2026. Miami had 16 victories and 14 defeats in the ACC in 2026.

Boston College will begin its ACC Tournament run with 39 wins and 22 losses. Miami improved to 37 wins and 17 losses with the win over Stanford on Wednesday. Boston College beat Miami 8-7 in 11 innings in the first of the three-game series at Miami, the Hurricanes won 5-3 and the Eagles took the rubber match 9-5.

Miami enters the game against Boston College with two consecutive victories after winning its final game of the regular season 7-4 at Florida State before beating Stanford. Georgia Tech outscored Boston College 38-3, sweeping in the final three games of the regular season.

Miami might be getting Boston College at a vulnerable time after the humiliating series loss at Georgia Tech. Boston College has lost six out of its last seven games entering the ACC Tournament. Despite the late-season slide, Boston College far exceeded expectations after being picked to finish 16th and last in the ACC preseason poll.

Miami has 31 wins and 13 losses all-time against Boston College. The Hurricanes have defeated the Eagles both times they have played in the ACC Tournament. Miami had a 5-0 lead after two innings and led 7-4 after seven before losing the first game of the series to Boston College in March.

All ACC pitcher A.J. Colarusso will start for Boston College against Lazaro Collera for Miami on Thursday. Colarusso pitched three innings, allowing six runs, five earned, with one walk and two strikeouts against Miami in March.

Collera had two appearances in relief against Boston College, pitching 1.0 inning, allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Collera entered the Miami starting rotation two weeks after they played Boston College when the Hurricanes hosted Creighton.

Miami was without starting left fielder Max Galvin against Boston College in March. Dylan Dubrovnik played LF and had five hits in 11 at-bats with three runs scored and six runs batted in during the three-game series against Boston College. Dubrovnik was the designated hitter for Miami against Stanford.

Boston College first baseman/left fielder Nick Wang had three hits in 10 at-bats with four runs scored and five RBIs in the three games against Miami. Miami third baseman Daniel Cuvet continues to be out and is not expected back for the ACC Tournament.
