Fox NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Monday that Miami running back Damien Martinez was visiting the Kansas City Chiefs later that day and Tuesday after previously spending time with the Dallas Cowboys and the Dolphins. Martinez was 11th among RBs with his NFL Combine score.

Most consensus has Martinez as a third- or fourth-round pick in the NFL Draft. Kansas City was 22nd in the NFL in 2024, averaging 105.3 rushing yards per game and 29th, posting 4.0 yards per carry. Kareem Hunt led Kansas City with 200 carries for 728 yards and averaged 3.6 yards per carry with seven touchdowns in 2024.

The Chiefs have five picks in the first three rounds, including the 65th and 95th overall picks in the third round and the 133rd pick in the fourth round. ESPN lists the top three needs of Kansas City as offensive and defensive tackle and tight end. Kansas City also clearly needs to improve its rushing offense in 2025.

Dallas has the 76th overall pick in the fourth round but does not have a fourth-round pick. ESPN lists the top three needs for Dallas as RB, wide receiver and cornerback. Dallas was 27th in the NFL in 2024, averaging 100.3 rushing yards per game, 30th, averaging 4.0 YPC and 32nd and last with six rushing TDs.

Rico Dowdle led Dallas with 235 carries for 1,079 yards, 4.6 YPC and two rushing TDs. Dallas failed to rush for over 100 yards nine times during the 2024 season. Improving their rushing offense should be one of the biggest priorities for Dallas entering the 2025 season.

The Dolphins have five picks in the first four rounds, including the 98th overall selection in the third round and the 116th and 135th in the fourth rounds. ESPN states the Dolphins needs as safety, guard and offensive line. The Dolphins were 21st in rushing in 2025, averaging 105.6 yards per game and 28th, averaging 4.0 YPC.

Devane Achane led the Dolphins with 203 carries for 907 yards and six TDs in 2024 and added 78 receptions for 592 yards and another six scores. Achane provides exceptional speed and versatility in the passing game. Martinez is regarded as more of an early-down and short-yardage RB who could complement Achane.

Martinez is projected to be a day two (second or third round) or early day three (fourth through seventh rounds) draft pick. A lot can happen between now and April 24, when the first round of the NFL Draft commences. Who drafts Martinez and when will be dictated by how the draft evolves before he is selected.
