Shelton Henderson is returning to Miami, giving Jai Lucas the biggest offseason win the Hurricanes could have asked for before transfer portal season fully ramps up.
Miami finished 26-9, placed third in the ACC and made the NCAA tournament in Lucas' first season. But the Hurricanes are also moving into an offseason where they must replace seniors Tre Donaldson, Malik Reneau and Ernest Udeh Jr., the trio that helped engineer the program's 19-win jump from the previous year.

Henderson backed up his five-star billing in his first season at Miami
Henderson started all 35 games and averaged 13.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 56.7% from the field. He was a major part of a team that turned the program around and made it to the Round of 32.
In December, Henderson scored a career-high 30 points in a win over FIU, shooting 10 of 12 from the floor and 10 of 11 from the line. In the NCAA tournament, he scored 15 points against Missouri in Miami's first-round win, then followed that with 18 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals in the second-round loss to Purdue.
Henderson arrived as the No. 21 player in the country, the No. 4 small forward in the 2025 class and the No. 2 player in Texas in the 247Sports Composite. Henderson was the 2025 Houston Chronicle All-Greater Houston Player of the Year and the 2025 Guy V. Lewis Award winner.
Henderson averaged 22.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, four assists and three steals per game as a senior at Bellaire while shooting 69% from the field and leading the program to the state title game. He also won gold with USA Basketball at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup.
Henderson projects to be one of the top players on the Canes next season.
