Rutgers linebacker Mohamed Toure has committed to the University of Miami through the transfer portal. Toure will slot into the linebacker group for the Hurricanes which includes Popo Aguirre, Jaylin Alderman, Wesley Bissainthe, Bobby Pruitt and transfer Kamal Bonner. Toure has a connection to Miami's new defensive coordinator, Corey Hetherman as he was his linebackers coach from 2022-23 at Rutgers. The reunion provides Toure with a level of stability and trust as he transfers for the first time in his college career.

The catch with Toure is that he missed the entire 2022 season due to a torn ACL and then tore his ACL again in fall camp last year. He is from the high school class of 2019, so while he is a proven veteran, the injury concerns remain a question mark.
In Toure's sophomore season at Rutgers where he logged 20 total tackles, five tackles for loss, one interception, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. In his junior season, he had 51 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. In 2023, Toure registered 93 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. He was a team captain in 2023 and 2024 and was named to the Fourth Team All-Big Ten squad in 2023.
Other contenders for Toure's services included Penn State, Indiana and North Carolina. He visited all of the schools but it appears the connection to Hetherman was too strong. Prior to his commitment, Toure was the top available player in the portal according to On3. He was also ranked as the No. 219 overall player and No. 8 linebacker in the portal, according to On3. Toure becomes a member of Miami's top 10 transfer portal class, joining the likes of Kamal Bonner, CharMar Brown, Keelan Marion, Tony Johnson, Bert Auburn, JaKobe Thomas, Keionte Scott.
