Henry Ford, Henry Godbout and Harrison Didawick had RBI singles in the bottom of the first inning to stake Virginia to a commanding 3-0 lead. Ninth-place hitter Luke Hanson homered in the fourth and Didawick hit one deep over the right field fence to give Virginia a slam-proof 6-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth.
Griffin Hugus started and pitched five innings for Miami, allowing four earned runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts to fall to 5-5 with the loss. Galvin had two of the four hits for Miami, with Jake Ogden and Bobby Marsh getting the other two hits.
