The recruiting consequences of Miami's victory over Florida State have expanded beyond the initial pair of five-star forecasts that emerged after the game.

There are now several significant developments involving 2027 commitments, 2028 targets and younger prospects.

Expert predictions for elite 2028 prospects

Rivals national analysts Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons have logged predictions for Miami to land five-star wide receiver Brysen Wright of Mandarin in Jacksonville. Wiltfong had already projected Miami for Wright before the Florida State game, so the victory reinforced the confidence.

Wiltfong and Simmons have also predicted five-star edge rusher Asher Ghioto of The Bolles School in Jacksonville to Miami. Miami entered the weekend as a frontrunner, and the win strengthened that position. Reportedly, Ghioto was studying film with Miami defensive line coach Jason Taylor during the visit.

A new flip

Four-star 2027 linebacker Aston Whiteside of Burleson Centennial in Texas flipped from Texas A&M to Miami after visiting for the Hurricanes' victory. Whiteside said that his relationships with the coaching staff, the program's culture and his confidence in Mario Cristobal ultimately convinced him to make the move.

2028 targets

  • Miami has also continued to set the pace for five-star offensive tackle Maui Tonata of Orem, Utah, after his weekend visit. Tonata was already a major Miami target entering the game.
  • Five-star defensive lineman Prince Che of Thomas County Central in Georgia completed his first Miami campus visit, and the trip seems to have changed the picture in a recruitment where the Hurricanes had been chasing other contenders.
  • Five-star safety Casey Barner of Georgia strengthened Miami's position with his latest visit and the Hurricanes made a significant move with top-50 defensive back Jalen Flowers of Palos Verdes, California.
  • Miami also continues to lead for top-100 linebacker Gabriel Player of Eau Gallie after his visit.

2027 flip situations

  • Five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews of St. Thomas Aquinas attended the game despite his Texas A&M commitment and Miami remains interested in flipping him.
  • His teammate, Notre Dame commitment Zayden Gamble, was also in attendance.
