Amazingly, Miami returns its top six leading rushers from the 2025 national runner-up. The addition of Javion Mallory in the 2026 class provides Miami with one of the deepest and most talented groups of RBs nationally. Mark Fletcher Jr. is a potential sleeper Heisman Trophy contender in 2026.
The Miami RB depth chart starts with Fletcher Jr. Fletcher became the first Miami rusher with over 1,000 yards since Mark Walton in 2015. Fletcher Jr. had 216 carries for 1,192 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns and 17 receptions for another 140 yards and two scores.
Fletcher Jr. was at his best during the four-game Miami College Football Playoff drun with 75 carries for 507 yards and two TDs and three receptions for 33 yards and one score that came against Ohio State. Fletcher Jr. ran for over 100 yards in three of the four CFP games and 90 rushing and 25 receiving yards versus Ohio State.
CharMar Brown and Girard Pringle Jr. are the primary backups to Fletcher Jr. Brown had 474 rushing yards and seven TDs, while leading the Miami RBs with 20 receptions for 138 yards and two scores. Pringle Jr. had 62 carries for 375 yards and four TDs with four receptions for 53 yards and two scores.
Girard Pringle Jr. showed his potential
It seemed like Pringle Jr. was trending to be the top ball carrier for Miami entering the CFP. The majority of the snaps for Pringle Jr. in 2025 came in November, with 48 carries for 302 yards and one TD and all four of his receptions. Pringle Jr. was the primary ball carrier for Miami in November.
After being injured in the season opener against Notre Dame, Jordan Lyle finished 2025 with 35 carries for 108 yards and one TD with three receptions for 22 yards. Lyle did not have a carry after rushing seven times for 17 yards with one reception for seven yards on November 8 against Syracuse.
Wheatley-Humphrey mostly received playing time late in games that were decided. Playing in 10 games in 2025, Wheatley-Humphrey finished with 22 carries for 108 yards. Wheatley-Humphrey had seven carries each for a total of 105 yards and against Bethune-Cookman, Stanford and North Carolina State.
With the number of RBs in front of Mallory, he seems like a probable redshirt in 2026. Miami was 70th nationally in 2025, averaging 151.81 rushing yards per game and 72nd, posting 4.28 yards per carry. Miami can and should significantly improve its rushing numbers in 2025 with the deep group of RBs it has.
