The Miami Hurricanes have secured a commitment from Slovakian forward Timotej Malovec, a promising international prospect from Mega Superbet in Serbia. The 6-foot-9 wing turns 21 next week and has a wealth of experience.

Malovec spent the past two seasons with Mega Superbet in the ABA League, where he averaged 5.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game during the 2024–25 season, while shooting 35.6% from three-point range.

Malovec began his professional journey with Inter Bratislava in Slovakia during the 2021–22 season, where he averaged 7.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. His performance caught the attention of scouts, leading to his move to Serbia in 2022 to join Mega Superbet, a club renowned for developing NBA talent like Nikola Jokic and Ivica Zubac. During the 2022–23 season, while on loan to OKK Beograd, he maintained solid averages of 7.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in the Serbian KLS league.

Malovec has been a consistent presence in Slovakia's national teams as well. During the 2022 FIBA U18 European Championship Division B, he averaged 16.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, shooting 50% from the field and 35% from three-point range. His performances at the international level have shown his capability to compete at a high level.

Malovec participated in the 2024 NBA Draft Combine before withdrawing to further develop and refine his game. His commitment adds to Miami's recruiting success under new head coach Jai Lucas who has been actively rebuilding the team's lineup. The Hurricanes roster now includes transfers Ernest Udeh, Malik Reneau, Tre Donaldson, Tru Washington, and class of 2025 prospect Dante Allen.

Adding Malovec's international experience and skill set should be able to boost Miami in the upcoming season as the program continues to integrate talent from all over to build its 2025-26 team.
