On3's recruiting prediction machine currently gives Kentucky the strongest position for Whiteside at 45.6%. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech are also listed in the top five by RPM. Texas A&M is listed in the RPM at 1.8%.

Whiteside has been connected to Kentucky for months and he seems to be leaning towards a summer decision.

The Aggies are much closer to home to Whiteside, and the program currently sits at No. 1 nationally in the 2027 industry team recruiting rankings. Texas A&M's class has 15 commitments and a 95.401 composite score.

Miami already has a commitment from A.J. Randle Jr., one of the top linebackers in the 2027 class. Randle committed to the Hurricanes last week and became a major defensive piece in a class that has kept climbing up the national rankings. He chose Miami over a final group that included South Carolina, Ohio State and Georgia, and Rivals has him as the No. 5 linebacker in the 2027 Rivals300.

Whiteside's 2025 junior season included 46 tackles, three tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one blocked field goal in nine games. His sophomore season was even more productive, with 104 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries over 14 games. Both interceptions were returned for touchdowns.
