Miami is still in the final group for Neimann Lawrence, but the latest recruiting predictions around the four-star 2028 quarterback are pointing toward Texas.
Rivals' Steve Wiltfong logged an expert prediction Tuesday for Texas to land Lawrence, the American Heritage quarterback who will announce his commitment June 25. Wiltfong's pick carried a 60% confidence level and came shortly after Inside Texas' Justin Wells also picked the Longhorns at 65%.

Lawrence has played at Ransom Everglades, Miami Northwestern and will play at American Heritage this year. He is choosing from Miami, Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Michigan.
Texas takes the prediction lead
Lawrence has about three weeks before his scheduled announcement. Still, two Texas predictions are worth taking seriously, especially with Wiltfong involved.
Lawrence is ranked as the No. 67 overall prospect, No. 6 quarterback and No. 7 player in Florida in the Rivals Industry Rankings.
Miami is not empty-handed in the 2028 class. Knox Annis, a quarterback from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, committed to the Hurricanes on April 9. Annis is ranked lower than Lawrence, but he is still a talented in-state QB prospect.
Miami landed Israel Abrams in the 2027 class. Annis is already in place for 2028. And they also have 2026 QB Dereon Coleman already in the fold. The lineup of QBs might deter Lawrence from seriously considering a commitment to Miami.
Texas HC Steve Sarkisian has already gone into American Heritage and landed Dia Bell, a top-40 2026 quarterback who signed with the Longhorns. As of right now, Texas has a 2027 quarterback committed in Ty Knutson, but the Longhorns do not have a 2028 QB commitment.
As a freshman at Ransom Everglades, Lawrence played well, throwing for 2,777 yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions. After transferring to Miami Northwestern, he passed for 1,971 yards, 32 touchdowns and one interception as a sophomore.
