Miami will begin the 2026-27 season against Florida in Tampa, according to a report from CBS Sports College Basketball Insider, Jon Rothstein. Gary Parrish of CBS Sports ranks Florida first in his current top 25 and 1 rankings. Miami is 20th in the 2026-27 Top 25 and 1 rankings.
Florida and Miami each lost to Big 10 teams in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Florida, the top seed in the South Region in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, lost to Iowa in the second round. Miami lost to second-seeded Purdue in the second round of the 2026 NCAA West Regional.
According to Parrish, Florida returns "six of the top seven scorers -- specifically Thomas Haugh, Alex Condon, Boogie Fland, Reuben Chinyelu, Urban Klavsar and Isaiah Brown -- from a team that finished 27-8." Condon, Chinyelu, Klavsar and Brown were on the 2025 NCAA Tournament Champion Florida team.
Miami returns Shelton Henderson, Dante Allen and Marcus Allen to its 2026-27 roster. Henderson was third on Miami, averaging 13.8 points per game and added 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals as a true freshman in 2026-27.

Florida beats Miami in 2025
Florida beat Miami 82-68 in 2025 to give Jai Lucas his first career loss against the program where he spent his first two seasons as a player. Condon led Florida with 19 points, Haugh had 17 and Chinyelu scored 16. Chinyelu and Condon led Florida with 10 rebounds and Haugh had nine boards.
Florida outrebounded Miami 47-35. In his fourth college game, Henderson scored seven points on two out of six from the field with three out of eight from the free throw line with two rebounds, two assists and a steal in 21 minutes.
Senior Malik Reneau led three Miami players in double figures with 22 points in the 2025 loss to Florida. Miami has 23 wins and 47 losses all-time versus Florida. Florida has won the last three games against Miami. Miami last beat Florida 66-55 in December 2015.
This season will be the first time Florida and Miami have played in consecutive years since they played three straight seasons from 2015 through 2017. Miami will also play in the 2026 Players Era Tournament and the ACC-SEC Challenge as part of what should be an improved non-conference schedule in 2026-27.
