David Kenyon of Bleacher Report recently spotlighted Mohamed Toure as one of the top Under‑the‑Radar Impact Transfers for the 2025 College Football Season. He called Toure a potential game-changer for Miami’s defense, saying, “The best version of Mohamed Toure can be special.”

"The best version of Mohamed Toure can be special. Few, and perhaps nobody, can know that better than new Miami defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman. Before his excellent year as Minnesota's DC in 2024, he helped mold Toure as the linebackers coach at Rutgers. Toure, who missed last season due to a knee injury, racked up 93 tackles with 9.5 for loss (4.5 sacks) with Hetherman in 2023. Provided his recovery stays on track, Toure should be an essential part of a transfer-fueled defense at Miami this season."

Toure arrives in Coral Gables with a significant amount of experience and a trusted coach in his corner. Corey Hetherman, Miami’s new defensive coordinator, spent the 2022–23 seasons coaching Toure as Rutgers linebackers coach. Under Hetherman’s guidance, Toure posted 93 tackles, 9.5 tackles-for-loss, and 4.5 sacks in 2023. For his efforts, Toure was named an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten player and served as a team captain.

Although Toure sat out the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL, his earlier connection to Hetherman offered a clear path to reintegration in Miami’s defense. The lingering concern is still Toure’s ACL injury. This marks his second ACL tear with his first occurring in 2022. If healthy, Toure is poised to be the linchpin of a transfer-fueled Miami defense that could help the unit rebound in 2025.

With Hetherman coordinating his first season as Miami’s defensive mind, 2025 could be a turning point. At Minnesota in 2024, Hetherman spearheaded a top‑10 scoring defense (16.9 points per game) and top‑5 total defense (285.7 yards allowed per game). If he can bring that success to Miami, then the Hurricanes will be in serious contention for the CFP.
