CBS Sports, ESPN, On3 and 247Sports are among the national media outlets that project Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes as one of the favorites for Georgia quarterback Carson Beck. Beck entered the transfer portal officially on Thursday. Pete Nakos of On3 stated to watch Ohio State and Texas Tech as potential competition for Miami to sign Beck.

Cody Nagel of 247Sports stated Beck immediately becomes the top player in the transfer portal. Beck is entering the transfer portal after initially declaring for the NFL Draft, similar to what 2024 Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward did before transferring to Miami last year.

Nagel provided five reasons why Miami is the most logical destination if he returns to college. Those reasons are, Miami needs a new starting QB, has the NIL resources to lure Beck, they offer him a chance to rebuild his game in a system that produced a potential No. 1 NFL Draft pick, is dating Hanna Cavinder and is a Florida native.

Chris Hummer of CBS Sports stated it is fair to term Miami as the favorite for Beck. Hummer wrote "Miami has aggressively pursued quarterbacks behind the scenes since its bowl game, multiple sources tell CBS Sports." Beck would be the best possible case scenario for Miami according to Hummer.

Will Carson Beck end up transferring to Miami after entering the transfer portal?

Hummer stated Beck could receive more than the $4 million NIL deal Darrian Mensah received after transferring from Tulane to Duke. North Carolina could be another program to watch as a potential suitor for Beck according to Hummer.

Pete Thamel of ESPN reported Miami "looms as the favorite for Beck" and a decision is expected within a week. A source told Thamel that Beck intends to listen to all potential suitors and his decision "It's a strategic thing, not an emotional thing." Beck will not be able to throw until March after surgery to repair his ulnar collateral ligament.

After Nakos originally named Miami, Ohio State and Texas Tech as programs to watch for Beck, the main On3 account posted later on Thursday afternoon Beck entered the transfer portal with a do not contact tag. That would likely mean Beck has made a decision on where he is transferring or that he wants to control the narrative.

Expect Beck entering the transfer portal to continue to be a story that evolves with the College Football Playoff semifinals being played this week. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is another potential transfer to watch. Ewers is unlikely to remain at Texas and has the option of entering the 2025 NFL Draft.
