Talk about a complete and total stunner. Moments ago, some pretty big news in the college football world arrived, with the update breaking that standout Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck will be entering the transfer portal. What in the world?
Not long ago, Beck announced that he was going to be heading to the NFL Draft. However, he's had a change of heart and will suit up in the college ranks for the 2025 season. Now that Beck is going to be free to sign with any team he wants, could the Miami Hurricanes and Mario Cristobal make a call?
Carson Beck entering the transfer portal could be gold for the Miami Hurricanes
Earlier when the portal opened, the expectation was that Miami would look for some veteran experience with Cam Ward heading to the NFL. There's a good chance Ward will end up being the No. 1 overall pick. He delayed going pro and boosted his stock in Coral Gables.
Could the same story end up being played out for Beck? While he's a top talent, he isn't projected to be a first-round pick. Coming back to college for one more year could no question help him climb up draft boards at this point next year.
With the way things are looking for Miami too, adding someone like Beck could not only put them in the College Football Playoff conversation, but they'd be a team to watch to compete for a national title as well - this is something Cristobal of course has in mind.
In addition to Beck, Quinn Ewers is another signal-caller who has been linked with the Canes for next campaign too. In the near future, we should find out if Miami and Cristobal make a push for Beck, but from our chair, it'd be a no-brainer for them to try and convince him to suit up for the Canes. It almost makes too much sense for him to make the move from Athens to Miami.
