NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah shouted out Hurricanes safety Jakobe Thomas in a recent post on X, calling him a "player that plays fast and physical." This is now the second shoutout that Jeremiah has given to a Miami Hurricanes defensive prospect in the last week. Earlier, Jeremiah praised Keionte Scott, calling him "an easy one to fall in love with."

Daniel Jeremiah shouts out Miami's Keionte Scott
Miami CB Keionte Scott is an easy one to fall in love with after studying his game-- speed, instincts, toughness & tackling. He's 24 but I don't see that as a big issue. He's ready made.

The college career of Jakobe Thomas
Thomas was a veteran transfer who became a playmaker in the secondary for Miami in 2025. Thomas finished the 2025 season with 76 tackles, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and six pass breakups.
Against NC State, Thomas grabbed two interceptions in the first quarter and took one back 60 yards for a touchdown in Miami's 41-7 win.
After Miami's 28-22 win against FSU, Thomas was named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week by the Football Writers Association of America after logging five tackles, a sack, an interception, a forced fumble and two pass breakups. The ACC also tabbed him as its Defensive Back of the Week.
Thomas was voted first-team All-ACC at safety, alongside Scott in the secondary.
Thomas began his career at Middle Tennessee State, moved to Tennessee for the 2024 season, then finished at Miami. He put up decent production at both of those schools before his arrival to Miami.
Looking ahead to the NFL
Thomas is among the 2026 scouting combine invitees, with the event set for Feb. 23 through March 2 in Indianapolis. If he tests well, then he should rise up draft boards considering he has plenty of production at the college level.
Not to mention he was a main part on one of the best defenses in the country last season.
