Slowly but surely, the New York Giants are finally starting to get out of their own way. The G-Men made two incredible first-round picks in Arvell Reese out of Ohio State and Francis Mauigoa out of Miami, getting phenomenal value for both of them at No. 5 and No. 10 overall respectively. Reese can make the New York Jets pay for passing on him at No. 2, while Mauigoa could be a total tone-setter...
After the Mauigoa pick, ESPN's Adam Schefter shared what New York's starting offensive line may be.
Giants projected offensive line:
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 24, 2026
🏈LT Andrew Thomas
🏈LG Jon Runyan
🏈C John Michael Schmitz
🏈RG Francis Mauigoa
🏈RT Jermaine Eluemunor https://t.co/LWn1dDxdj1
Schefter has Mauigoa slotting in at right guard between center John Michael Schmitz and right tackle Jermaine Eluemnuor. On the other side of Schmitz will be Andrew Thomas at left tackle and Jon Runyan at left guard. Adding a big-time player from the college game in Mauigoa should set the Giants up for great success. His job will now be about keeping Jaxson Dart upright in a clean pocket.
Under the guidance of John Harbaugh, the Giants may soon be a functional organization once again.
New York Giants fans should be over the moon with Francis Mauigoa
While this may not have been the most talented draft class in recent years, Mauigoa was definitely one of the college game's most intriguing prospects coming out. Along with new teammate Reese, former teammate Rueben Bain Jr., and to some degree running back Jeremiyah Love, those are the four picks who might have the best chances at becoming Pro Bowlers. Fernando Mendoza as well...
In the extended wake of what the Giants did on Thursday night, it kind of felt like a Baltimore Ravens draft from yesteryear under the guidance of Ozzie Newsome, and later Eric DeCosta. Harbaugh was there and knows exactly what a high-functioning war room looks like. The Giants have lost the plot so many times in drafts from the past. It is a breath of fresh air to see them not make a total mess of it...
The big key with this pick is for Mauigoa to rise to the occassion like Thomas has for years out of Georgia. The absolute last thing the Giants will want is for Mauigoa to go the way of Evan Neal. He was a physical freak coming out of Alabama, but his game never translated to the NFL, no matter what position he played along the offensive line. It is hard to see Mauigoa failing in the NFL in any situation.
If New York plans on turning this thing around, the Giants know they have to be better in the trenches.
