Wideout Ny Carr is entering the transfer portal, once again bringing an early end to what was supposed to be a long-term partnership between a blue-chip Georgia receiver and Mario Cristobal's Miami Hurricanes.

Miami WR Ny Carr enters transfer portal

Carr will leave Miami with three years of eligibility and only a small slice of on-field production. The 6-foot, 185-pound sophomore caught three passes for 45 yards in 2025 and one pass for eight yards in 2024, appearing in six games over two seasons. He caught three passes for 24 yards in the 2025 spring game and looked like a candidate to break into the main rotation.

He opened this fall as a second-team outside receiver on the depth chart behind CJ Daniels, JoJo Trader and Daylyn Upshaw, and he never carved out a consistent role in a room that leaned heavily on true freshman Malachi Toney and the veteran transfers.

This is not the first time Carr has gone into the transfer portal. Back in April, he briefly entered the spring window for less than two weeks before pulling his name out and returning to Coral Gables.

Carr's departure stings because of what he was supposed to be. Coming out of Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia, he was a consensus four-star prospect and one of the most productive receivers in the state. The 247Sports Composite ranked him as the No. 53 overall player and No. 11 wide receiver in the 2024 class. He originally committed to Georgia before flipping to Miami in October 2023.

Instead, Carr became a victim of timing and numbers. Miami rebuilt its receiver room around Toney, Trader and a wave of transfers, so snaps for younger players dried up. Over the past week the Hurricanes have already seen former four-star receiver Ray Ray Joseph and defensive lineman Daylen Russell announce portal plans.
