Miami's search for its first tight end commitment in the 2027 class took a hit on Sunday when Rivals four-star Anthony Cartwright III chose Oregon over the Hurricanes.
Cartwright, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound prospect from Detroit Country Day, committed to the Ducks over Miami, Michigan, LSU and Michigan State. He announced his decision after taking official visits to Miami and Oregon during June.

Oregon beats Miami for Rivals 4-star TE Anthony Cartwright III
Rivals rates Cartwright as a four-star prospect and the No. 16 tight end in the 2027 class. The Rivals Industry Ranking places him No. 351 nationally, No. 18 at the position and No. 8 in Michigan. The 247Sports Composite ranks him No. 408 nationally, No. 20 among tight ends and No. 8 in the state.
Cartwright was the only uncommitted prospect on Miami's official-visit weekend June 5, joining a group that included several future Hurricanes. He had Miami in his final five since April, and the staff's pitch included a chance to develop an early connection with quarterback commit Israel Abrams.
But Cartwright was in Eugene the weekend of June 19, and that proved to be enough as announced his commitment nine days later.
The Ducks signed five-star tight end Kendre Harrison in the 2026 class and also have 2027 three-star George VanSandt committed.
