Miami's roster has three players in Pro Football Focus' top 50 list entering the 2026 season, led by sophomore wide receiver Malachi Toney at No. 5 overall.
PFF also ranked quarterback Darian Mensah No. 29 and safety Bryce Fitzgerald No. 42. The list weighs PFF grades, advanced data and future projections.

Malachi Toney at No. 5
PFF placed only Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith ahead of Toney at wide receiver, and the Miami sophomore landed behind Smith, Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore, Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons and Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin overall.
Toney was the heart and soul of Miami's run to the CFP last season. He led the FBS with 841 yards after the catch and 33 forced missed tackles after the catch. He also led the country with 58 receptions that produced either a first down or touchdown.
Miami added more receiver depth through the portal in the offseason, including former Duke standout Cooper Barkate, Cam Vaughn and Vandrevius Jacobs. That should keep defenses from treating Toney as the Hurricanes' only major receiving threat.
Darian Mensah at No. 29
PFF ranked Mensah No. 29 after grading him at 85.0 as a passer, the 12th-best mark among FBS quarterbacks. His 28 big-time throws ranked sixth nationally.
Miami has taken a portal quarterback in each of the past three seasons, first with Cam Ward, then Carson Beck and now Mensah. The Hurricanes are counting on Mensah to continue that run while operating behind a retooled offensive line.
Bryce Fitzgerald at No. 42
Fitzgerald recorded six interceptions last year, tied for the most among Power Four players. Two came in Miami's College Football Playoff victory over Texas A&M, including the end-zone interception that sealed the win.
PFF gave Fitzgerald an 80.7 overall grade, which ranked fifth among qualified ACC safeties. Miami will ask him to handle a lot in 2026 after losing veterans Jakobe Thomas and Keionte Scott.
