Three Hurricanes rank among PFF’s top 50 players ahead of the 2025 season. With Week 0 just two weeks away, Pro Football Focus (PFF) released its rankings of the Top 50 college football players heading into the 2025 season. Impressively, three Miami Hurricanes earned inclusion on the list:

  • Rueben Bain Jr. – No. 15
  • Carson Beck – No. 21
  • Francis Mauigoa – No. 41

Rueben Bain Jr. – Defensive Anchor (No. 15)

A top performer for Miami's defense, Bain managed to impress despite missing games in 2024 due to injury. He recorded 23 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks, solidifying his role as a disruptive force up front. Reports from spring and going into the fall have shown that he is in even better shape than he was when he caused major disruption on the field as a freshman.

Carson Beck – New QB (No. 21)

Transfer quarterback Carson Beck, who joined Miami after a standout tenure at Georgia, makes this list. In 2024, Beck threw for 3,400+ yards and 28 touchdowns while completing over 64% of his passes, leading Georgia to the SEC Championship Game.

His talent and transfer hype set high expectations for Miami's offense in 2025. Beck has pretty big shoes to fill as he steps in for Heisman trophy contender and No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. Some of the analysis around Beck is conflated with his expectations and comparisons of what has come before him, so it's nice to see him still get the respect he deserves.

Francis Mauigoa – QB Protecter (No. 41)

Offensive tackle Mauigoa was a starter at right tackle last season (and the season before that). He anchored one of the nation's most prolific offenses as Miami averaged 43.9 points per game and 537.2 total yards per game, ranking first nationally in both categories. He was a Second-Team All-ACC selection last year.
