You've just got to feel terrible for the veteran signal-caller. People are racing to get their shots in on Carson Beck, but let's make one thing clear: the loss for Miami to Indiana with the CFP title on the line is not on him.

Mario Cristobal has obvious coach to fire after Miami's National Championship loss

Yes, he threw a late interception to seal things for Indiana, but Miami was out of timeouts and in a race against time. At some point, Beck had to take a shot and let the ball rip downfield. Credit to Indiana for making the play when it needed to.

Despite that, Beck is of course down in the dumps right now. He just spoke with the media and as you might have been able to guess, he was heartbroken that the Canes weren't able to come out on top and close out the season the way he dreamed about:

Carson Beck had a heartbreaking reaction to Miami's CFP title game loss to Indiana

"A lot of credit to them and their defense," Beck said. "They played really, really well tonight. Again, in the moment you react and that's what happened. He made a really good play on it (interception). You can sit back and think of every if and or but situation after, but that's what happened. It sucks and you know it's going to sting for a while."

It's not a surprise to see that kind of a response from Beck. This is what he made the move to Coral Gables for. Originally, the plan was for him to head to the NFL Draft, but he entered the portal instead and signed with Miami immediately after that news broke.

He took over for Cam Ward, who was the No. 1 overall pick in last year's NFL Draft. Beck is now off to the NFL himself after a long and successful college career. It's just a shame for him and Miami fans everywhere that the season didn't end the way it was supposed to.

Still, no one can overlook what Beck and Miami were able to get done this postseason. The Canes were expected to lose to Texas A&M, but they stunned the Aggies. The wins over Ohio State and Ole Miss were electric too and Beck played major roles in those victories. Yes, the loss to Indiana hurts, but Beck has nothing to be disappointed about.
