3 teams the Miami Hurricanes are happy to not play in 2024
By Sam Fariss
While the Hurricanes 2024 schedule isn’t a walk in the park, Miami luckily gets to skip over a few of its toughest conference opponents.
From new additions to long-time foes, the ACC looks drastically different than it has over the past few decades. The California Golden Bears, Stanford Cardinal, and SMU Mustangs are all climbing aboard as conferences across the country realign.
The Canes only have to face one new opponent in the Cal Bears, but Miami does have to take on the usual slate of conference enemies; Florida State, Duke, Georgia Tech, and others.
So, which ACC opponents will the Hurricanes gratefully pass by and look the other way throughout the 2024 season?
The SMU Mustangs are back in business after a long lull of insufferable seasons.
As the Mustangs join the ACC, they are coming off an 11-3 overall record and a win in the American Athletic Conference championship game.
The Hurricanes get to avoid SMU until 2025 when Miami travels to Dallas for the first time since 1965.
Mack Brown has revived the North Carolina Tar Heels football team after it had imploded and after his time with the Texas Longhorns had run its course.
With star players like quarterback Drake Maye, the Tar Heels have risen up the conference standings over the last few seasons.
As North Carolina and Miami take a break in their matchups, the Canes can catch a breather from having to down one of the greatest head coaches of all time.
The Clemson Tigers might be in a drought for appearances in the College Football Playoffs but Dabo Swinney has still brought the team up to a dominant place in the ACC.
Despite the lack of transfer portal pickups, Clemson is projected to be the No. 19 team in the nation according to ESPN's way-too-early rankings.
Miami, like almost any other season, should be as grateful as ever that they don't have to face the Clemson Tigers in 2024.
