The Miami football program has added five transfers since April 27. Miami is likely not finished adding transfers to its 2024 roster. Edge rusher Tyler Baron and defensive back D'Angelo Ponds have recently visited with Miami, but have yet to make decisions about their next programs.

Miami added running back Damien Martinez, linebacker Jaylin Alderman, cornerback Dyani Hill, wide receiver Sam Brown and defensive tackle Simeon Barrow since April 27. The Hurricanes currently have 14 transfers added to its 2024 roster since the portal opened in December.

Miami has added five transfers on offense and eight on defense. Safety Savion Riley re-entered the transfer portal after transferring to Miami from Vanderbilt during the winter portal window. Baron would add depth on the defensive line. Ponds should challenge to be a starter.

Left guard is another position that could be a priority for Miami in the transfer portal. Miami has not recently hosted any OL. Baron would add to a deep group of Miami edge rushers with Elijah Alston, Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor. Miami signed the best 2024 DL class.

Ponds was named freshman All-American in 2023. Ponds are projected in the rotation behind returning starters Damari Brown and Darryl Porter Jr. Miami needs to add experienced depth at CB. The Hurricanes are inexperienced and young on the depth chart behind Brown and Porter Jr.

Ponds played in all 13 games for James Madison in 2023 with 10 starts. Hill has two seasons of eligibility remaining. If Ponds transfers to Miami, the Hurricanes will likely be finished adding help at CB. Miami could still add a safety. Ponds choosing Miami would allow Mishael Powell to move back to safety.

UPDATE: Ponds committed to Indiana after this post was published on Sunday afternoon.

Powell mostly took snaps in the slot during spring practice. The deadline to enter the transfer portal was April 30. Transfers can decide their next program after that date. Miami will still be busy in the portal during May. Expect a few more transfers who can contribute and be part of the rotation in 2024 to be added to the Miami roster.
