Buffalo Bills edge rusher Greg Rousseau, a Miami Hurricanes alum, blocked a potential game-winning field goal in overtime to help the Bills defeat the Los Angeles Rams 37-34 on Monday Night Football.

With the Rams lined up for a 48-yard field goal by Harrison Mevis that would have ended the game, Rousseau got a hand on the kick. The block kept Buffalo alive, and on the next drive Tyler Bass connected on a 45-yard field goal with 1:55 remaining in overtime for the win. It was the first blocked field goal by the Bills since Oct. 13, 2025 (also by Rousseau) and gave Josh Allen his first career overtime victory after seven previous losses.

Through five games, Rousseau has six sacks (tied for second in the league), three forced fumbles (tied for the league lead), 35 pressures and 14 quarterback hits. He recorded two sacks in each of the first three weeks before a quieter outing against New England and the blocked kick Monday.

Other Miami alumni notes from NFL Week 5

Cam Ward

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward completed 23 of 36 passes for 170 yards and an interception in a 26-3 loss to the Houston Texans. Through five games the 2025 No. 1 overall pick has completed 63.2% of his passes for 896 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions while adding 59 rushing yards and two scores.

The Titans are 0-5 and the media continues to hound Ward in the postgame press conferences.

Francis Mauigoa

Rookie offensive guard Francis Mauigoa has started every game for the New York Giants at right guard. He has played 347 snaps but posted a 48.4 overall PFF grade (68th among guards), with a 43.4 pass-blocking grade and 11 pressures allowed.

The physical tools that made him the No. 10 overall pick remain evident, but he is still adjusting (naturally) to the NFL game.

Kamren Kinchens

Rams safety Kamren Kinchens returned from a hamstring injury and has 21 tackles and a half-sack in limited action. He recorded six tackles in Monday's loss to Buffalo.

One of those tackles ended up being a hustle play that kept the Rams alive in overtime. If Los Angeles had pulled out the win, Kinchens would have been one of the biggest reasons why.

Andy Borregales

Patriots kicker Andy Borregales made his only field-goal attempt and all six extra points in New England's 45-17 win over Las Vegas. Through five games he is 6-for-8 on field goals (including a 50-yarder) and perfect on extra points.

Tyrique Stevenson

Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson left Sunday's loss to the Packers with a hamstring injury after recording two tackles.

Calais Campbell

Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell continues to add to a historic career in his 19th season. The 40-year-old has nine tackles through five games after returning to Baltimore, and he recently set the NFL record for most games played by a defensive lineman (283).

Elijah Arroyo

Seahawks tight end Elijah Arroyo has one catch for 17 yards in five games as a backup behind AJ Barner.

Jaelan Phillips

Carolina edge rusher Jaelan Phillips is working back from a hamstring injury sustained in Week 4 and is hopeful to return after the Panthers' bye. He has two sacks and eight tackles in four games.

Rueben Bain Jr.

Tampa Bay rookie edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. has been limited by a groin issue, but returned for the Buccaneers' Week 5 win.

Additional Week 5 notes

  • Akheem Mesidor (Chargers): Recorded eight tackles (five solo), one sack and one forced fumble in a loss to Denver.
  • DJ Ivey (Bengals): Had two solo tackles and two passes defensed in Cincinnati's win over the Dolphins.
  • Jalen Rivers (Bengals): Saw action on the offensive line in the win over Miami.
