The return of guard Anez Cooper and tackle Francis Mauigoa, entering their third seasons as starters, set the foundation for the 2025 Miami offensive line. Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus stated the left side is more uncertain, per Max Chadwick in his article "College Football: Top 10 offensive lines entering the 2025 season."
Chadwick ranks the Miami OL eighth nationally entering the 2025 season. Chadwick discussed the return of Cooper and Mauigoa for their third season as starters and addition of center James Brockermeyer from TCU as players who have received high PFF grades.
Markel Bell is the projected starting left tackle for Miami. Matthew McCoy, who started 12 games in 2024, also returns for Miami. Chadwick highlighted potential starters for Miami at left guard but did not mention Cooper. Mario Cristobal and OL coach Alex Mirabal have frequently started freshmen in their tenure.
The freshman to watch in 2025 is Seuseu Alofaituli. Alofaituli is the projected successor to Brockermeyer. After adding a transfer center in each of the past three seasons. Alofaituli is the likely starting center in 2026. Alofaituli could compete for snaps at RG in 2025.
"The left side of Miami’s offensive line is a bit more uncertain. Markel Bell is the favorite to be Carson Beck’s blindside protector at left tackle and is a massive player at 6-foot-9, 340 pounds who started five games for the Hurricanes at left tackle last season. If he’s not up to the task, former five-star recruit Samson Okunlola could be worth a shot as a redshirt sophomore. The left guard will likely be redshirt senior Ryan Rodriguez, who started the opening game last year but suffered a season-ending ankle injury after 38 snaps."Max Chadwick, Pro Football Focus
McCoy, Okunlola and Rodriguez should compete to be the primary competitors at left guard. Expect McCoy and Rodriguez, with their experience at guard, to have an advantage over Okunlola. As a five-star signee in the 2023 class, Okunlola was the fourth-ranked tackle, known as the pancake honcho.
Miami lost starting center Zach Carpenter and versatile OL Jalen Rivers, who started 21 games at LT in 2023 and 2024. Brockermeyer is the fourth starting center for Miami in as many seasons. After starting as a true freshman in 2023, Mauigoa becomes one of the leaders for Miami with Cooper.
Miami had one of the best offensive lines nationally in 2024. Miami finished fourth nationally, allowing 3.54 tackles for loss per game. The Hurricanes were more middling, allowing 1.77 sacks per game. Part of that could have been Cam Ward extending plays longer.
Cristobal and Mirabal have done an exceptional job developing the Miami OL. Alofaituli, Mauigoa and Okunlola are the only blue-chip players mentioned who were original signees with Miami and projected as part of the 2025 rotation on the OL. In 2025, Miami should have a strong OL to protect quarterback Carson Beck.
