In a college basketball world where so many players come in and go one-and-done before heading to the NBA, Shelton Henderson is prioritizing development at the college level. The Miami forward made the decision to return to the Hurricanes for another season, and he made it quickly.
After sitting down with his friend and family, Henderson came to the quick decision that returning to Miami was the best option for him to grow as a person and a basketball player. Doing it at Miami is also important to Henderson as grown into his identity as a Hurricane, and the environment is something he doesn't feel he will get anywhere else.
"Being a Hurricane is something that I have really grown into," Henderson said. "Being here has been great for me; the environment, the people have all allowed me to play at my best and be the best version of myself."

In his first season at Miami, Henderson followed the trend of talented freshmen by averaging 13.8 points per game, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. Hurricanes head coach Jai Lucas and Henderson were a great pairing, and it is clear that the young forward was ready for another season with his young head coach.
Now, with Lucas looking to build out of the transfer portal with some top prospects, Henderson could have even more help next season to give Miami the boost it needs to be better. Lucas could actually be bringing in more youth with the potential of Bryson Tiller joining the Hurricanes.
Henderson is ready for another season at Miami and said the decision to come back was honestly a really easy one to make, and he is happy with it and believes it was the right one.
