College GameDay chooses to go to Texas A&M vs. Miami on Saturday
The Alabama-Oklahoma rematch opens the playoff on Friday night at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC and ESPN. The next day, Miami-Texas A&M kicks off the Saturday tripleheader at noon Eastern on the same networks.
For the Miami game, ESPN is sending play-by-play voice Sean McDonough and analyst Greg McElroy, with Molly McGrath and Taylor McGregor working the sidelines at Kyle Field.
Saturday's stop will be GameDay's first visit to College Station this season. The show last came to Texas A&M for the 2024 renewal of the Aggies' rivalry with Texas, a November game the Longhorns won 17-7. Norman, on the other hand, already hosted GameDay earlier this fall for Oklahoma's win over Michigan.
This is the second year of the 12-team playoff and the second straight season in which GameDay has doubled up on first-round road shows. Last December, the crew hit Notre Dame on Dec. 20 and Ohio State on Dec. 21 for campus-site CFP games.
College GameDay increases the already-hostile atmosphere
GameDay coming to College Station does present some worries for Miami fans. Prior to the announcement, there was a sigh of relief regarding the time of kickoff. With the game being at noon Eastern, the Canes avoided a matchup against the Aggies at night, which would have been absolutely bonkers.
There's already a ton of pressure and the Hurricanes already had their work cut out for them, so that ended up being an initial break. Now, with College GameDay coming in, there's no doubt that Kyle Field is going to be at maximum stadium pulse, even if it's midday. That will be something to watch moving forward.s
