The Miami Hurricanes won a hard-fought dramatic game by outlasting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 27-24. The Hurricanes played superb in all phases of the game. What was very inspiring for the Canes was the way the defense set the tone in the first quarter.

Both teams played a defensive duel in the first half, with the Miami Hurricanes taking command at halftime with a 14-7 lead. It was impressive to see the Canes play inspired football on offense, defense, and special teams throughout the game. Defensively, the Miami Hurricanes were swarming around the ball and forcing pressure on Notre Dame quarterback, C.J. Carr. The Hurricanes defense, although the unit surrendered seventeen points in the second half, played extremely well.

During the 2024 season, the Miami Hurricane defense was the team's weak spot and Achilles heel, due to the inability of that unit to make sure tackles and stop opposing teams from converting on third down. Offensively, new-comers, quarterback, Carson Beck and freshman sensation, wide receiver, Malachi Toney were connecting all game long. Also, the rushing attack received a huge contribution from running back, Mark Fletcher, who ran extremely physical. Beck was poised throughout the contest.

His command and pocket presence were undeniable. Beck went 20/31, passing for 205 yards, while also throwing two touchdowns and no interceptions. What was extremely impressive how the Canes played overall as a team was how they did not commit crucial turnovers on offense, and on defense, although the unit did allow some big plays, when it counted the most; the defense come through.

How fitting that the Miami Hurricanes would cap off the game by sacking Notre Dame quarterback, C.J. Carr on the last play of the game! The Hurricanes might have something special brewing. Reflecting upon how the Canes played, one could certainly consider how that game brought back memories of Miami Hurricanes glory.

Now, going forward, the Hurricanes must take a one-game-at-a-time approach. This was a huge victory, and as a result, the Canes moved up to number three on the polls. The "U" could possibly regain relevance again by playing each game going forward with the same mindset and approach that earned the program a victory over a worthy opponent.
