Never a doubt. For a while now, it has been assumed that Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward would be taken with the No. 1 pick by the Tennessee Titans. However, there was buzz that plenty of teams were hoping to move up to land the stud signal-caller.
According to Adam Schefter, the New York Giants came in with a blockbuster offer to try and move up to No. 1 to land Ward. Indeed, the Giants offered up two first-round picks, including this year's No. 3 spot to Tennessee in order to have Ward take over the offense for Brian Daboll. The Titans said no thank you, selecting Ward moments ago.
Adam Schefter says at one point the #Giants offered this year and next year's first-round pick for Cam Ward, among other picks. Tennessee rebuffed.

The Titans turned down a huge offer from the NY Giants to stay at No. 1 for Cam Ward
It's not a surprise that the Giants were hoping to grab Ward, as he is a generational talent and the kind of playmaker who can turn things around for a franchise. This is exactly why the Titans were never going to give up the top spot in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Giants signed both Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston this offseason, but there's no question that the G-Men are in need of a new QB1 for the long haul. That's where Ward would have fit in. The Giants weren't going to reach for Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart at No. 3, instead choosing to grab Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter.
As for the Titans, Tennessee fans are over the moon knowing that Ward is now going to be running the offense for the AFC South side. Ward was brilliant at Washington State for two seasons, then he put on a show with Miami in 2024. He's got what it takes to be a superstar signal-caller at the next level. He also has countless people in Nashville thankful that he'll be suiting up at Nissan Stadium and not MetLife Stadium instead.
