For a little while now, things have no question been a mess between stud cornerback Xavier Lucas and his situation with the Wisconsin Badgers. Why does this matter for Mario Cristobal and the rest of his staff for the Miami football team?

It's because the expectation is that once Lucas hits the transfer portal, he'll likely end up making his way to Coral Gables. However, Wisconsin has blocked his release and the program has failed to submit his paperwork.

Lucas called UW out over this and he has now taken things a step further, hiring legal counsel. His new lawyer said he's hoping things will get resolved, but he also said he might need to take action in order for his client to be allowed to play for a different program. Wow:

Xavier Lucas has hired a lawyer to try and finalize his Wisconsin transfer

Things indeed have become a bit of a mess for Lucas with Wisconsin, but what's the hold up here? Plenty of college football fans across the country have been calling out Luke Fickell over not allowing the former 4-star signee to enter the portal.

Multiple recruiting experts have predicted Lucas' next stop to be with Miami. With him being a Florida native, it only makes sense that he'd want to return to his home state to continue his college career. However, it's totally up in the air if that's going to happen or not.

The fact that Lucas has hired a lawyer to help him out here only speaks to how serious things have gotten. With that same lawyer threatening to take things to litigation too, it only makes this even more dramatic.

Will Wisconsin finally budge and let Lucas leave Madison, or will this continue to drag out for even more time? We wish we had an answer to that question, but look for Miami to make a move when things finally get figured out.
