Brysen Wright, the top-rated wide receiver in the 2028 class, committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday, choosing the No. 1 team in the country over Texas and Florida. Oh, but that's not all. While announcing that he was pledging to the Canes, Wright also dropped the major update that he's going to reclassify to 2027. Wow!
Wright has been one of the most coveted prospects in the country since he was a freshman at St. Augustine High School. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound pass-catcher has since become the top in-state recruit for Mandarin High School in Jacksonville.
After previously landing five 5-star recruits in the 2027 class, Cristobal and the Hurricanes coaching staff have continued to dominate on the trail, with this Wright news making things even better.
Brysen Wright is the latest 5-star recruit to commit to Miami
Wright had no shortage of potential suitors before he determined to trim his final list to Miami, Florida, and Texas. The other schools that extended offers included Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, Louisville, Texas A&M, Oregon, and Tennessee. The Hurricanes were actually the first team to extend Wright an official offer back in December 2023.
Since then, Wright has been a regular on Miami's campus, often showing up for junior day events, elite recruiting weekend events, and summer prospect camps. His most recent visit was a couple of weeks ago when he watched the Hurricanes take down Florida State in double overtime.

But, what should get every Miami fan excited about Wright is what he can do on the field. He had 46 catches for 903 yards as a sophomore in 2025, earning Sophomore All-American honors from MaxPreps. According to that website, Wright has 46 catches for 984 yards, and 11 touchdowns for the 9–1 Mustangs. Next up for Wright will be the Florida Class 5A playoffs.
Miami's 2028 recruiting class is beginning to take shape
Wright has been catching passes this year from another Hurricanes commit, 3-star 2028 quarterback Knox Annis. Miami also has a pledge from 4-star offensive lineman Kweli Fielder out of Carrollton, Ga. for '28, though we now know that Wright will be making the move to campus a bit earlier than those two.
Now that Wright is locked in with The U, expect Cristobal and the Hurricanes staff to put the finishing touches on the 2027 class in a big way. The Early Signing Period is a month away, and the Hurricanes are still in the picture for 5-star edge-rusher DJ Jacobs, and 5-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews. If Cristobal is able to get things over the line with those two, it'd complete what's looking to be a historic class for the ACC powerhouse.
