Brysen Wright is expected to announce his commitment on Thursday, and the top-rated wide receiver in the 2028 class will be choosing between Miami, Texas, and Florida. Over the past several months, the Hurricanes have been well-positioned in this recruitment for the 5-star athlete.

Listed at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Wright is arguably the top in-state recruit during the 2028 cycle. He also plays at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville and is a teammate of Hurricanes QB commit Knox Annis. Wright has been known to flash the "U" at various points during his season.

Wright has also spoken glowingly of the Hurricanes in recent months, talking about his excitement about where Mario Cristobal has taken the program over the past five years and what he expects from the incoming 2027 recruiting class.

"Coach Cristobal... Coach Beard... I hear a lot from those guys. They're always trying to get me on campus," Wright said in August. "It's an elite class for sure. A very good class, and I'm just ready to see what they do."

5-star Brysen Wright could be the start of big things for Miami's 2028 recruiting class

There's been a lot of attention on Miami's 2027 class and for good reason. It's rated among the top 5 classes in the country, and it features pledges from multiple 5-star recruits. While Cristobal and the staff are looking to add the final pieces to that class, much of the focus has turned to 2028.

Miami currently has two commits in the class with Annis, a three-star recruit, and four-star offensive lineman Kweli Fielder from Carrollton, Georgia. Wright would immediately be the centerpiece of the group, and his pledge could lead another major domino to fall. Asher Ghioto, the 5-star edge rusher, also has Miami among his finalists and could make a commitment before the end of the year.ย

Getting two 5-star recruits this early in a recruiting class would set Miami up for a ton of momentum as the recruiting cycle takes center stage after the season.

Miami remains the big favorite for Brysen Wright's commitment

The Rivals/On3 predictor has the Hurricanes with a 97.8% chance of landing Wright, an overwhelming favorite for a prospect of his caliber. On 247Sports, Miami site writer Gaby Urrutia and Florida recruiting insider Zach Blostein have both logged crystal balls for the Hurricanes.

Wright's commitment comes on the heels of 2027 5-star wide receiver Nick Lennear and 5-star athlete A'mir Sears, expected to sign with Miami next month. Sears could play on either side of the ball, but there's a good likelihood that he'll start on offense.ย

With the likely departure of Malachi Toney after the 2027 season, Cristobal and Beard have begun the process of building a new wide receiver room around young talent that has the potential to make a massive impact.
