There have been a few rumors about who was on campus for the Miami Hurricanes this past weekend, but one visitor was definitely confirmed — quarterback commit Israel Abrams.

The blue-chip passer from the Chicagoland area took his official visit this weekend and hung around to take in the Legends Camp on Sunday. Abrams, who committed to the Hurricanes on April 3, has been a solid member of the top-five nationally-ranked class and has been openly pushing other blue-chip players to join him in Coral Gables. So it's no surprise that Abrams was living his best life hanging around the facility.

QB commit Israel Abrams enjoys his official visit to Miami

Abrams' visit comes in the middle of a very hectic summer. When you are one of the top quarterbacks in the country, everyone wants some of your time. That means that Abrams was competing against some of the top arms in the country during the Elite 11 showcase in Los Angeles last week, and he has "The Opening" showcase at the end of the month from the Nike World Headquarters in Oregon.

The visit to Miami, however, gave Abrams a chance to relax and hang around some of his future teammates and coaches.

"I wanted to get around the team and see, like, ‘are these some guys that I want to be around for the next 2 to 4 years?’ and they are 100 percent," Abrams told Sebatian Font from CanesInSight. "It was all love, and they showed compassion the whole time I was here. So shout out to guys like Gavin [Mueller], [Dereon Coleman], Milan [Parris], [Somourian] Wingo and man and a couple of the defensive guys."

Abrams could return to campus over the final two visit weekends and act as an additional recruiter as Mario Cristobal and staff are looking to close out the official visit season with the best recruiting class in the country.

Israel Abrams stands to be Miami's most important commit in the 2027 class

The Hurricanes' class is filled with blue-chip players, but Abrams is the only quarterback, and he's a key part of Cristobal's effort to build in-house depth in that room. For the past three seasons, Miami has gone with one-year transfers at the position, and it's been extremely successful. However, the cost of bringing in a top transfer quarterback is not cheap, and sometimes they can carry a lot of unexpected baggage (i.e. Brendan Sorsby). With Abrams and 2028 prospect Knox Annis committed, the Hurricanes will have some capable home-grown options heading into the next decade. Miami's quarterback room continues to get deeper. Last year, the Hurricanes signed in-state prospect Dereon Coleman and in 2025 they added four-star recruit Luke Nickel

Abrams is one of the top-rated players in the country and the Hurricanes' class that includes five-star cornerback Donte Wright and five-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant, who flipped from LSU last week.
