Donte Wright is training hard in the offseason and learning from one of the best.
Wright, a five-star athlete who flipped to the Miami Hurricanes from the Georgia Bulldogs two weeks ago, is staying on top of his game this summer and training with former NFL All-Pro defensive back Jalen Ramsey. The video is a short clip of the two working on an agility drill while in Austin, Texas.

One of the interesting aspects of the NIL world is when professional athletes and prospective college athletes intertwine because of their representation. Both Wright and Ramsey are represented by Athletes First and that professional connection has led to the two training together. It's a classic case of a veteran still performing at the top of his game working with a young player that aspires to be in that position 5-10 years from now. Ramsey, the No. 5 pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, is heading into his 11th season and working out with an elite high school player nearly 15 years his junior is probably a fun challenge for him. Meanwhile, Wright can gain some of the knowledge that Ramsey has accumulated over years in the league. So much of the learning process for players like Wright has less to do with athletic ability and more about technique, timing and anticipation--the things that Ramsey has excelled at over his career.Â
There are similar parallels between the two players. Ramsey was also an elite blue-chip prospect in the 2013 recruiting class, and they were of similar size coming out of high school. He remains one of the ultimate competitors in the NFL, and it's a trait that Wright must possess if he's willing to get on the same practice field with Ramsey.Â

As the headline says, this is something that I'm sure Mario Cristobal is thrilled to see. He is recruiting players that he expects to have a similar mentality to the great Hurricanes of the past. The coach expects the top recruits to carry themselves with confidence and the belief that they can compete as soon as they get on campus. Cristobal has shown that he has no issue playing freshmen in crucial situations and Wright's offseason effort shows that he understands what's expected of him when he gets to Coral Gables in January.Â
Wright is also making some waves off the field in his efforts to recruit 5-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs, who is committed to Ohio State, but is keeping his recruitment open for another school to potentially jump in. As of now, Wright remains the highest-rated prospect in Miami's recruiting class, which is currently ranked fourth overall by both 247Sports and On3/Rivals. He is expected to take his official visit to Coral Gables on June 5, and he's sure to meet more current NFL players during his trip. Maybe he'll set up some training sessions with some of them as well because even a five-star prospect knows that you can always get better.
