Israel Abrams was back in Coral Gables this weekend and the future Miami Hurricane was ready to show off his five-star arm.
Abrams took part in Wednesday's elite camp and got a chance to have some early one-on-one coaching with offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. The Chicago-area commit was recently upgraded to five-star status at 247Sports, and he showed why with his throwing exhibition.

Abrams committed to Miami a couple of months ago and since then, he's been ascending to one of the top quarterbacks in the country. Through his efforts at the Elite 11 national showcase, Abrams rose to elite status and is challenging Trae Taylor to be the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the class on 247Sports. The rise and the support that Abrams has received from the Hurricanes staff over the last few months is something that he greatly appreciates.

"They know how hard you have to work to get to a point like that. People from the Miami staff reaching out .... it just means a lot," Abrams said on the OFFSZN podcast.

The rankings are nice, but that wasn't the reason for Abrams to make a return trip to Miami. He wanted to set an example for the players that participated in Wednesday's camp. Abrams wanted to show the other campers that are hoping to get a Miami offer or considering the Hurricanes in their recruitment what the Miami culture is about. A lot of top prospects might be on campus to have a little face time with the coaches, but they wouldn't want to work out in public or participate in the camp. Abrams, however, is a leader and that leadership was on display Wednesday.
It's also an unofficial celebration weekend on the Miami campus. There are no official visitors expected to come in, but many of the 2027 commits have been in Coral Gables participating in the camp or simply hanging around with the other recruits and commits. It's a time for the commits to bond and the Hurricanes staff to celebrate a successful recruiting cycle before taking a few weeks off to recharge and prepare for the upcoming season.
"Just a good experience right now to get out here with some of the guys and just keep building that relationship with them. It's growing in a positive direction. It's a chill vibe. It's a vibe that everyone wants to be a part of and everyone wants to be around," Abrams told 247Sports' Gaby Urrutia.
Abrams' performance should have fans excited to see him in a Hurricanes uniform down the road. And the fact that he's already immersed in the program's culture and displaying the work ethic that Mario Cristobal demands, is something that will pay off for Miami in the very near future.
