The transfer portal of course has provided Miami with some great wins, with Darian Mensah expected to sign early next month to play for Mario Cristobal. However, some losses are being posted for the Hurricanes that fans aren't too excited about.
Miami losing hometown freshman to the transfer portal stings for multiple reasons
The latest one is no doubt going to sting, with news breaking late Wednesday night that rising running back Girard Pringle Jr. is saying goodbye to Coral Gables. A true freshman this past season, Pringle turned heads whenever his number was called and it always felt like he was going to have a bright future playing for The U. Instead, he's now looking for a new place to call home:

Girard Pringle Jr. transferring is a big blow for Miami and Mario Cristobal
A 5-10 speedster from Tampa, Fla., Pringle posted 62 carries this season for 375 yards and four touchdowns. He didn't get the bulk of the work for the ground game, but he impressed when given the opportunity to shine for Cristobal and Shannon Dawson.
With him being so young too, it felt like the sky was the limit with him for the Canes. Him entering the portal is also something that not many of us expected. While Mark Fletcher Jr. is returning for his senior campaign, the expectation was that Pringle would get an increase in his workload.
Despite that, it looks like he wants to push for a starting role, which won't be available to him with Miami in 2026. So, where could Pringle head next? That's up in the air, but there's early buzz that Kalen DeBoer and Alabama could make a run at signing him.
It'd no question be a bummer if Pringle leaves Miami to move to Tuscaloosa, but you've got to figure that powerhouses across the country are now going to do what they can to impress him and get him to sign. The fact that Pringle is an in-state stud only makes things worse. Earlier this week, fellow true freshman Amari Wallace also announced he was transferring. Let's hope the hits stop coming in on Cristobal portal wise from Florida talent.
