As expected, Miami and Mario Cristobal have added a MAJOR recruiting win for the 2027 class.

That's because four-star quarterback Israel Abrams is headed to Coral Gables for his college ball. While live on The Pat McAfee Show, the touted signal-caller broke the news that Miami fans everywhere were hoping for.

Mario Cristobal lands nation's No. 2 QB in latest massive recruiting win for Miami

As it turns out, in addition to his great relationship with the coaching staff, a pair of Miami greats made quite the difference for Abrams with his decision. Leading up to this announcement, Abrams went into detail with CanesInSight on what he likes about Miami, with quarterbacks Cam Ward and Carson Beck surely being among the things that stood out:

Both Carson Beck and Cam Ward deserve an assist for Israel Abrams committing to Miami

"I feel like having somebody like Cam Ward, who was the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, and then having a guy like Carson Beck - two elite quarterbacks at Miami, some would probably consider Cam Ward the best at Miami," Abrams said. "I don't know, I guess it depends who you're talking to (on who's the best), but I think he's the best. But I think that's a big part of my decision. Man, like, coming behind something like that, that'd be cool, you know? Those are good mentors. I know I'll probably be connected with them at least at one point in my time here or multiple times. So, I feel like having those guys in your corner would be great."

That interview with Abrams sure gave everyone a strong hint that he was eventually going to commit to Miami, which ended up being the case. This is without question a massive get for the Canes, as Abrams is ranked the No. 2 quarterback in the country and No. 14 prospect overall per 247Sports.

He mentioned Ward and Beck as mentors and he's right, that'll end up being huge for him. Ward recently wrapped up his rookie year with the Titans, as he indeed was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He put up historic numbers for the Canes in his lone season with the ACC side.

As for Beck, he also spent one year with Miami, helping power this team to the CFP National Championship Game. A heartbreaking loss to Indiana was posted, but that doesn't take away from the dream run Beck and Co. were able to record.

This fall, Darian Mensah is taking over the offense and he has the Miami hype quite high too. Abrams will be paying close attention to how this group operates, but the expectation is the Canes will once again be in a spot to make plenty of noise next winter. And then soon enough, Abrams will pack his bags and look to be the next great Miami signal-caller to suit up for Cristobal.
