Former Miami quarterback Carson Beck praised Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson for his success with the Hurricanes during the 2025 season. Beck made the comments in an appearance with reporters at the NFL combine.

Beck is one of 10 former Hurricanes participating at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis this week. Miami reached the College Football Playoff National Championship Game for the first time this season. Beck completed 72.4 percent of his pass attempts for 3,813 yards, 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2025.

Beck praised Cristobal for being an offensive line "guy." Before getting into coaching, Cristobal played OL on Miami National Championship teams during the 1989 and 1991 seasons. Miami had one of the best OL nationally in 2025, led by three players who are participating at the 2026 NFL Combine.

Beck next praised the skill positions players around him. Beck and wide receiver Malachi Toney developed great chemistry in 2025 as the latter set numerous Miami program receiving records. Running back Mark Fletcher helped carry the Miami offense during the CFP run.

"First and foremost its coaching...coach Cristobal is an outstanding coach. An offensive line guy. To have success at quarterback, you have to have a lot of guys around you. It's only one piece of the puzzle...Had an amazing offensive line, great skill players around me....Obviously, going to help you have success...along with that goes coach Dawson. He makes everything run...able to feel the flow of the game, make the different play calls. Attacking defenses in different ways. He definitely helps his quarterbacks have success."

Miami won in multiple ways

Miami won games in multiple ways throughout the CFP run. Beck threw for 241 yards, two TDs and no interceptions in wins over Texas A&M in the first round of the CFP and Ohio State in the quarterfinals. In the final two CFP games against Mississippi and Indiana, Beck combined for 500 yards passing, three TDs and two interceptions.

Dawson called what opposing defenses gave Miami offensively and played to the score of the game during the CFP run. Beck managed the offense nearly perfectly for Miami during the four-game postseason run. Beck likely improved his NFL Draft stock during his one season with Miami.

Beck is currently projected as the 125th overall pick in 2026 by the NFL Mock Draft Database. That would put Beck in the middle of the fourth round. Defending AFC Champion New England holds the 125th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Wherever Beck is drafted, he will compete for a roster spot as a backup to begin his NFL career.
