The Arizona Cardinals don't want to move too fast with Carson Beck.

After drafting the former Miami Hurricanes quarterback with the 65th overall pick, Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort said that the team's first plans with Beck were to simply show him where everything is in the facility.

"We just announced his name about a half hour ago, so we just want to get him in the building here and show him where the cafeteria is, and the locker room is and get him fitted for his gear, and then we'll go from there," Ossenfort said. "We're excited to add the great competition in that room, and we'll see how it shakes out."

Cardinals GM wants Carson Beck to know where everything is

The hidden message from Ossenfort is pretty easy to detect. They aren't going to rush things with Beck right out the gate. Arizona will hold a rookie camp in a few days, and it's there that they will get the first look at Beck in a Cardinals uniform and see how he goes about his business of learning the offense and throwing the football. From there, the Cardinals can start to plan out exactly how they want this to go.

It all makes sense because the Cardinals are going through a total rebuild. They have a new coach in former Rams and Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, and it's easy to make the mistake of installing too many things too quickly. The NFL calendar does work pretty fast and players can get lost in it.

So, hopefully Beck has the right directions to get to the Cardinals facility (unless they are getting him a car service) and I think we can assume he knows what a locker room and a cafeteria look like, so a potential disaster is averted there.

As long as he's able to find those things, that should alleviate some of Ossenfort's major concerns, and now we can get to the business of football. Whether Beck can challenge for a starting spot immediately or has to sit behind Jacoby Brissett for a few weeks, he is clearly in the future plans and will need to get up to speed as quickly as possible.
