Jordan Lyle needed an opportunity to work his way back out of Mario Cristobal's dog house and CharMar Brown's injury might force the Miami Hurricanes' hand.
Brown suffered a nasty lower-body injury against Wake Forest and is likely going to miss an extended time. The running back room behind Mark Fletcher is true freshman Javian Mallory and Girard Pringle, but neither player has shown enough to be a reliable No. 2 back. That's where Lyle has to step in.

Lyle was ready to roll, but did not see a carry against the Demon Deacons, but there's a good chance he'll be on the field in Week 4 when Miami plays Central Michigan. Miami's suddenly thinned out running back room needs a healthy Lyle to produce.
CharMar Brown's injury will be Jordan Lyle's time to shine
Brown's injury is a devastating blow for the Miami Hurricanes. Brown is the climate glue guy — the type of player that every championship team wants to have. And if the injury is as serious as it appeared, the Hurricanes don't have one single player that can fill the void created by Brown's loss.
Brown is the great complimentary back to Mark Fletcher — an equally tough runner that was very efficient around the goal line. He was the best running back in the room with pass protection, and he was a solid receiver out of the backfield. More than anything, however, Brown was clutch. No one should forget his effort on what turned out to be the drive in the Cotton Bowl that shut the door on Ohio State.
CharMar Brown is from Omaha Nebraska.

He had over 1,000 rushing yards at North Dakota St last season. Won the Jerry Rice Award (best FR in FCS).
Transferred to Miami. Had over 100 carries but played sparingly 6 weeks.
Ices the game for Miami.

Lyle can do his best to fill in as many holes as possible. He clearly has the ability after being named the Week 1 starter last season against Notre Dame. Cristobal and Shannon Dawson wouldn't have put him out on the field first if he couldn't perform all facets of the position capably.
A high-ankle sprain took away Lyle's opportunity last season and some off-field issues almost robbed him of a chance for redemption, but Brown's injury offers Lyle another chance. One that he might not have received if Brown were healthy, but one that he had better make the most of.
