Boise State defensive tackle Braxton Fely is set to visit the University of Miami after he entered the NCAA transfer portal. The 6-foot-1, 297-pound lineman is coming off a great 2024 season, where he started all 14 games for the Broncos, recording 24 tackles, including 9 for loss and 5.5 sacks. His performance earned him second-team All-Mountain West honors. Fely has one year remaining of eligibility and has played 1,202 defensive snaps in his college career.

In his freshman season, Fely appeared in all 14 games, contributing on both defense and special teams. In his sophomore year he started all 14 games, recording 15 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. He recorded 30 QB pressures in 2023 which was the most of any interior defensive lineman in the Mountain West Conference. Coming out of high school, Fely was rated as a three-star prospect.
Fely was initially scheduled to visit Miami earlier this week but decided to visit Cal first. All signs point to Miami still being able to bring him in to visit and considering Mario Cristobal's track history with lineman, the Hurricanes are an attractive landing spot.

Fely's ability to disrupt the backfield and generate pressure could give the Hurricanes defensive front a major boost. The Hurricanes have experienced significant turnover on the defensive line during the current transfer portal window. Redshirt sophomore Joshua Horton recently entered the portal. He appeared in eight games over two seasons with Miami and recorded four tackles. Horton has a visit scheduled with Georgia.
Redshirt freshman Elias Rudolph also entered the portal after appearing in two games last season and recording one tackle. Rudolph initially committed to Michigan in high school before flipping to Miami.
While both players received limited playing time in 2024, the Hurricanes are in the market for defensive line depth. After the spring, Ahmad Moten, Justin Scott and David Blay are the top three defensive tackles for the Hurricanes. Fely could fit in behind those DT's and split reps with Donta Simpson and Artavius Jones or he could even come into the program ahead of those players.
