Miami makes final five for Rivals top-3 RB Myson Johnson-Cook
Johnson-Cook opened his career in 2023 at Decatur MacArthur in Illinois, where the hype started early. He earned an Illinois offer before playing a varsity down, and on his first high school carry he ripped off a 60-yard touchdown in his debut.
For 2024, Johnson-Cook transferred to DeSoto in Texas, one of the state's powerhouse programs. He rushed for 911 yards and 14 touchdowns as a sophomore, added four catches for 27 yards and a score, and helped DeSoto reach the Texas 6A Division II state quarterfinals. Then before the 2025 season, he transferred again, this time to East St. Louis in Illinois.
Johnson-Cook logged 1,341 rushing yards (10.6 yards per carry), 20 rushing touchdowns in 12 games for East St. Louis. He also added three catches for 45 yards. That level of production has made his recruitment very competitive.
Johnson-Cook ripped off 251 rushing yards on just 12 carries in a playoff win over Glenwood, while also putting up 168 rushing yards and four touchdowns against St. Laurence. In the state title game, he put up 234 rushing yards in East St. Louis' loss to Fenwick.
Miami has welcomed Johnson-Cook to campus multiple times over the course of this spring and hopes to hear good news on April 25.
