It feels like it's going to be a bit of a surprise if Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward isn't taken by the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Over the past week, Ward's odds to be taken at the top have skyrocketed.
However, not everyone thinks things are going to end up that way for the superstar signal-caller. In his latest mock draft, ESPN's Matt Miller has Tennessee going with pass-rusher Abdul Carter at No. 1. Then, Miller also has Travis Hunter going to Cleveland at No. 2.
With that, Ward will end up with the New York Giants at No. 3. While yes, it would be a bummer for Ward to miss out on being the second Miami QB in history to be taken first overall, landing with the Giants could prove to be way better for him than joining Tennessee:
ESPN's Matt Miller has Cam Ward being taken by the NY Giants at No. 3
"Cam Ward is such a good fit for what Brian Daboll has done traditionally on offense," Miller said. "Think back to his days with Buffalo, the way he brought Josh Allen along as a young quarterback. Ward can get it done on the move, he can get it done in the pocket."
Yes, pairing Ward with Daboll would be exciting to see, but let's not forget about the sensational wide receiver the Giants drafted No. 6 overall in 2024. Yup, that'd be Malik Nabers, who is coming off a terrific rookie season with the G-Men this past fall and winter.
Nabers is already looking like an elite wideout, but he needs a quality quarterback to deliver him the ball for the long haul. The Giants are in need of a Daniel Jones replacement, which has fans dreaming of Ward making the move to New Jersey.
The debate as to whether or not the Giants should focus on Ward or Shedeur Sanders won't end soon, but a lot of people think the Miami signal-caller is the obvious choice between the two. If Ward is still on the clock at No. 3, Joe Schoen would be foolish to not grab him.
